MODULE 2: GENERAL PADDLING SKILLS (ISSA AND SSA)
Aim A candidate can confidently demonstrate that they can handle, prepare and control their kayak in small to moderate sea and wind conditions.
|Perform general Stroke skills
|For each stroke there should be correct hand placement on the paddle; sufficient wrist movement for correct blade placement; adequate paddle depth in water to achieve effective stroke; correct blade angle throughout the stroke and correct paddle entry & exit points with respect to craft & body position.|
|Perform bow rudder||When moving forward position the blade as you would in a draw stroke but well forward and at a slight angle to pull the bow over.|
|Use edging||For appropriate strokes, the kayak needs to be edged without the use of a rudder.|
